Steve Bruce says if he remained only a club Footballer in his life and did not make it to the international level, Alex Ferguson is responsible for that.

Bruce was going to be picked by the Irish association if he had said yes when they had come knocking in the early nineties. The former defender was 34 years of age back then and had no scope of an England career at all.

As per Bruce, if he was on himself, it would have been an easy ‘yes’ from his side, but, for the interests of Manchester United, Ferguson asked him to sacrifice that opportunity and he did that. Continue reading BRUCE REJECTED IRELAND

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool blasted past Ac.Milan

Liverpool’s journey in the International Champions Cup has seen them losing against Chelsea with a final scoreboard of 1-0 in favor of Antonio Conte’s team.

Liverpool just couldn’t find a way past the defensive scheme that was set up by Antonio Conte as the Italian manager was directing one of his first competitive matches as the coach of Chelsea.

The team of Jurgen Klopp did manage to bounce back from their defeat against Chelsea as they overcame Ac.Milan in their latest International Champions Cup match which was played at the Levi’s Stadium in California on July 31st.

Divock Origi and Roberto Firmini scored all the goals in this game and both of them found the back of the net in the 2nd half. Liverpool had 60% of possession as the English outfit was the dominant team of the match and simply performed better than Ac.Milan.

Jurgen Klopp was extremely proud about how his team performed in this game as he talked to the media following the conclusion of the match and the German manager said: Continue reading Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool blasted past Ac.Milan

Liverpool still interested in signing Sadio Mane

It is believed that Liverpool will make a bid of £30 million next week to sign Sadio Mane from Southampton.

If the deal goes through he will be joining the likes of Adam Lallana, DejanLovren, and Nathaniel Clyne, who has made the move from Southampton to Liverpool.

Ever since taking charge of the club, Jurgen Klopp has displayed his intentions of signing another offensive midfielder, and he will feel that Mane will be a great player to boost his attack. Indeed Mane is a player that will fit Klopp’s philosophy as he is full of running and carry a potential threat from midfield.

It is reported that Klopp wanted to sign Mario Gotze from Bayern Munich, but the player did not feel to be keen to join Liverpool. The German manager has chosen instead to step up his pursuit of Sadio Mane as he wants to get all his players in place before the pre-season begins. Indeed this will be Jurgen Klopp’s first full season in change, and he will have no excuse this time if Liverpool do not show any sign of improvement. Liverpool needs a new left-back according to John Aldridge

Former Liverpool legend John Aldridge has suggested that Liverpool needs a new left-back if they are going to challenge for trophies.

For him, Alberto Moreno is not up to the standard and has to be replaced in the transfer winder. Indeed, many fans were not satisfied with Moreno’s performance in the defeat against Sevilla and had called for the player to be replaced.

John Aldridge said that he does not want to put the blame on any individual for the defeat against Sevilla but believes that Moreno got it wrong on the first goal conceded by Liverpool. He said that it is okay to make a mistake once but in the case of Moreno he keeps making the same mistakes time and again. He is often guilty of ball watching and most of the time he gets his positioning wrong.

For Aldridge, this is inadmissible at this level and given that Moreno has plenty of experience he should not have been making such mistakes. He believes that the player has some abilities but that he is struggling to play with Liverpool current formation. If Liverpool want to win something in the future, Aldridge believes that they will need to get a top left-back. Continue reading Liverpool needs a new left-back according to John Aldridge

Liverpool beat Everton 4-0 in Merseyside derby

Jurgen Klopp won the first Merseyside derby with a convincing win at Anfield. His Liverpool side thrashed Everton 4-0 to put even more pressure on Roberto Martinez.

Martinez has been under pressure during recent weeks with his Everton side on a poor run of form, but this defeat at the hands of their bitter rivals can be difficult to take for the fans. Liverpool was impressive over the course of the match and did not give their opponents any chance during the game.

There was a big contrast between both managers as Klopp seems to be enjoying every minute of the game while Martinez was quite frustrated and concerned with his team.

The next game against Manchester United can be important for Martinez, and if Everton get beaten again, then it would be difficult to imagine that Martinez will be the manager next season.

Liverpool, on the other hand, started the match well and put Everton under pressure. The first Liverpool goal came in the 43rd minute when DivockOrigi will connect with a James Milner cross. Four minutes later, the host will double their lead again thanks to a Milner’s cross. This time, it would be Mamadou Sakho who would score with an impressive header. Jurgen Klopp remains confident about Training

Jurgen Klopp remains confident that the week-long training camp in Tenerife will help the players rejuvenate for a great end to the campaign.

Liverpool’s aspirations of at least qualifying for the Europa League to a major blow after the 3-2 defeat against Southampton during the weekend. The defeat leaves Liverpool just three points above Chelsea, who have been in much better form since the turn of the year. Philippe Coutinho opened the scoring for the Reds before Daniel Sturridge made it a two-goal advantage inside 25 minutes. However, Liverpool were unable to sustain this good position throughout the 90 minutes.

Some impressive changes made by opposition manager Ronald Koeman meant that Liverpool found themselves 3-2 down going into the final 10 minutes. Even the introduction of Belgian international Christian Benteke did not help Liverpool get three points from this away trip. The league now goes on a holiday for two weeks due to the international break, with fans having to take advantage of entertainment offers Manchester instead. The club have tried to take advantage of this absence by going on a training camp in Tenerife. Klopp says that he is already seeing positive signs from his players after just a few days. The club return to action with a home game against title chasing Tottenham.

Klopp will want to cause a major upset in the title race by beating Spurs. “It’s going really well. We had 13 players plus two keepers training this morning, including a lot of young players. It was a good session. All the injured players have come away with us too and it’s nice to have them here. This is a really good training ground and the weather is a little bit better than in England! We’re having a good time. This is a good place for us to work this week. We’re working hard in the mornings and then in the afternoons it’s time with the families,” said Klopp.

Brendan Rodgers has expressed his disagreement over Steven Gerrard’s recent statements.

A few days ago, Gerrard had said that the Reds didn’t approach that famous Chelsea game of 2013-14 Premier League with the kind of attitude they needed to.

Liverpool had lost that game to lose the League title as well ultimately.

According to Gerrard, there was a sense of overconfidence in team’s preparation leading to that game and it harmed them eventually.

But, Rodgers, who was in charge of Liverpool at that time, is of the opinion that the attitude was perfectly okay and it couldn’t have been any different.

In the words of Rodgers, “I wouldn’t like to agree to what has been said regarding our approach that day.”

“We had played aggressive Football all season and we went the same way against Chelsea too. There was nothing wrong in that.”

“It was only a misfortune that just before the break, a slip happened and it shifted the momentum in the opposite direction. But, till that instance, they had not been able to put us under pressure.”

“Even when we came after the break, we continued with the same approach for some time and we were being able to do well, but, then, towards the end, we seemed to go into our shell a little bit.”

It was the first time after his sacking that Rodgers was interacting with the press and apart from talking about the remarks of Gerrard, he spoke on some of the transfer decisions as well that he took while he was the Reds boss.

The Irishman also made it clear that he would not mind taking up the managerial job in some other league around the world if the offer comes to him.

Rodgers has so far managed only the English clubs in his short managerial career which had started in 2008.
