Brazilian international Alisson was one of three goalkeepers on the list alongside Chelsea star Edouard Mendy and new Paris Saint Germain (PSG) signing GianlugiDonnarumawho joined the French giants from AC Milan in the Italian Serie A. Donnaruma recently won the award for the best goalkeepers at this year’s Ballon d’Or last month as he was rewarded for his impressive outing for the Italian national team at the Euro 2020 this summer. He was named the best player of the tournament as Italy won only their second European Championship by seeing off the English team on penalties.

England international Trent was the only Liverpool outfield on the list as the in-form Mohamed Salah was a major absentee. Eight attackers made the list and Liverpool talisman was a major absentee as voted for by his fellow professionals.

Salah has been one of the best players on the European football scene this season and eyebrows were raised when the Egyptian international finished seventh on the Ballon d’Or ranking behind Manchester United attacker Cristiano Ronaldo and the Chelsea duo of Jorginho and N’GoloKante.

In the Premier League this season, Salah has been unplayable for the majority of the season. His form has propel Liverpool to within one point of leaders Manchester City on the Premier League log. Salah has also led the Reds to the Champions League knockout stage. Liverpool won all their group games in the Champions League this season and they have given a tricky round of 16 tie against Italian champions Inter Milan if they want to be one of the eight teams in the Champions League quarterfinals this season.
